1/8/08 05:37 pm - goddamn you keyspan
so i need some serious help from people that:
1. have keyspan energy heating
2. pay their own heating bill
if this isn't you, thanks anyway and sorry for clogging your friend's list.
for the month of november, i paid $233.45 for heat. our average temp in the apartment is 68 degrees, but as much as 70-72 when we had those really cold, snowy days.
for the month of december, they're asking for $258.69. mind you, with the shock of november's bill, we haven't pushed the heat past 66 (and we taped our windows to prevent draft). and for two weeks, while we were on break, it was set at 50. we also didn't use the gas oven/stove for those two weeks.
i asked for an explanation from keyspan, and they said "gas prices are up" and "days are colder", but it still doesn't add up. according to the bill, the price of gas from november's bill to december's bill was a difference of about 1 CENT. also, those really cold days were in november. most of december has been pretty mild.
i appreciate any help/advice. this is the first time my roommates and i haven't lived on campus and we want to make sure we're not getting screwed over (ie, somehow paying the heat for the whole building or anything crazy like that). and at least to us, this all doesn't add up.
thanks guys.
